Kite Surfing is one of the newer marine sports and the wind in the Long Beach Harbor, particularly in the area of the Granada Launch Ramp, is among the best in the Western United States. 2005 saw a preliminary competition; 2006 will witness the first professional Kite Surfing Championship on the west coast of the United States.
